Formula G is a global all-electric motorsports series that will race as a support series, using the world’s first dual powered race car. Formula G’s inaugural season, commencing in late 2024, will feature independent championships in four regions, each with 10 team franchises.
With a race car with the unique technical ability to be raced at reduced power by one driver, and then at full power by a more experienced driver, each race event will see 20 competing in the reduced-power race FG-2, and 20 competing in the full powered FG-1 Championship.
Formula G is poised to bring affordable, accessible, exciting, and competitive green energy open-wheel racing to motorsports fans around the world.
Our objective is to transform the sport into a global inclusive force for opportunity, empowering diverse young communities to strive through the industry, be it as a driver, engineer, logistician, marketeer, event manager, etc.
We will boost career opportunities throughout the multifaceted roles of the motor racing world, irrespective of background, location, gender or socioeconomic status. With varied pathways open to all backgrounds, all participants will gain real-life experience, teamwork, and skills in the competitive electric motor racing environment.
Formula G graduates can engage at all levels, preparing for roles in Formula E and beyond, as the series continues to nurture talent and promote education.
We identified a worldwide lack of electric entry-level racing as well as spotting huge markets and regions seriously under-represented in regards of motor racing in general. Formula G is aimed at young talent who are graduating from karting and entering into the e-racing training funnel.
We are creating a more accessible and affordable entry into racing for them. Entry is open to all. Drivers will be awarded Super License points* to start to build a bank for their future racing career.

FG-1 is the pinnacle of the series. Professional drivers will race at full power with speeds over 180 mph
FG-2 is our entry level developer series. Emerging drivers master their single seater race skills racing at reduced power with speeds over 150 mph.
Formula G will be housed in its own ‘Powerpark’ to be located in one of the key territories. This motorsport ‘campus’ will be the centre for all the technical and logistical aspects of the two championships and will house the entire paddock between events.
It will also provide state of the art training facilities for the drivers who will hone their mental and physical skills to reach the peak of their potential whilst completing educational programmes and media, marketing and promotional training to allow them to manage all aspects of their progress.
Similarly, the Powerpark will be home to training facilities for young engineers and mechanics who will learn their skills on and off the track. This will be a unique facility where careers will be nurtured and opportunities provided in all areas of the motorsport employment sector.

Gill was a pioneer of the motorsport electrification world as the CEO and Team Principal of Mahindra Racing competing in the FIA ABB Formula E World Championship from its inaugural season in 2014/15 to the end of 2022. Building the team from the ground up, Gil was instrumental in placing an Indian team and innovative company on the global motorsport stage.
As the Team Principal and CEO, Dilbagh not only managed the on-track activity, but he also pioneered the sustainability and technology transfer programmes making history when Mahindra Racing became the first Formula E team to receive a three-star Sustainability Accreditation from the FIA – making Mahindra Racing the “Greenest Team in Motorsport” and the only carbon neutral team since its inception. The technology on track extended to the road with the ‘Race to Road’ programe where learnings on the track were applied to Mahindra Group road cars, developing and promoting a more sustainable transportation solution.
Before becoming a well-known figure in motorsport paddocks around the world, Dilbagh had eight years at Tech Mahindra as VP for Sports Practice and Advisory Relations in the USA, developing sporting practices around IT solutions for some of the most prominent and high-profile sporting events such as the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Dilbagh and his team won the best sporting event award at the Sports Event Management Awards at the end of that year. Dilbagh’s early career was all centred around sport, technology and the introduction of renewable energy.
He was able to turn his intellectual skills into a winning combination and create a unique position within the sport. Dilbagh is famous for his passionate and emotional approach to supporting his team especially when he taps his heart during exciting moments for his team and drivers on the track.
He truly wears his heart on his sleeve.“I think if you didn’t care then you won’t last too long in any sport at all,” Dilbagh said. “Yes, it is a business and yes, we have a lot of technology that is relevant and there are great messages for society and industry in Formula G, but there is also a big human element and I think this is still what people watching on TV want to experience.”

One of Germany’s top motorsport talents with an impressive array of wins and championships in the junior echelons before making his debut in Formula One in the year 2000.
He spent 11 years as a Grand Prix driver racing for several teams including Prost, BMW Sauber and Williams. He amassed 13 podium finishes from 183 starts and finished a career best fifth place in the 2007 Drivers World Championship.
He is a very versatile driver and has competed successfully in the FIA World Endurance Championship and Formula E where he became acquainted with Mahindra Racing and Dilbagh Gill. The two bonded as driver and Team Principal, which led to Nick becoming a source of technical advice and support for Mahindra Racing, staying with the team as reserve driver in 2018/19 before officially retiring from competitive racing.
Nick was a natural choice to work with Formula G as the development driver and advisor while the car is built and tested at the QEV headquarters. He will also advise on sporting regulations and liaison with the FIA technical teams.
“It is important to be creating a talent progression trail for the electric motorsport world as it exists in the more traditional motorsport series,” Nick said at the launch of the series in Hyderabad.
“I am also delighted to be able to help introduce motorsport to areas of the world starved of the thrill of watching, participating and working in this sport. So, all in all, I am delighted to be here from the beginning and to be inputting on a technical and sporting front and creating a first in motorsport with a series where two identical cars can compete with different power levels.
“We are very excited to have introduced the car and the concept in front of the Formula E crowds in Hyderabad – the first ever Indian Formula E race.”

Alejandro Agag is a true pioneer of sport in general and motorsport in particular.
He was the first to combine his vision of an essential electric future in transport with a sporting spectacle with the introduction of Formula E in 2014/15. The series has moved from strength to strength and achieved FIA World Status in 2021. He has now added Extreme E – the off-road series competing in areas of the world endangered by climate warming – which has just entered its third year and E1, the electric powerboat series which will become a reality at the end of 2023.
Agag’s background was politics. He was born in Madrid in 1970 and enjoyed an international upbringing in Madrid, Paris, and New York, gaining fluency in English, Spanish, French and Italian. After graduating from university, he moved into politics, quickly establishing himself and becoming the personal assistant to the Spanish Prime Minister at 25.
In 1999 he won a seat in the European Parliament, becoming the youngest Spanish person to ever do so at the age of 28. In 2001 he decided to leave the world of politics and move into motorsport where, together with his business partner Flavio Briatore, they purchased the F1 TV rights in Spain.
A few years later Agag purchased the Campos Racing GP2 Team, revamping it into the highly successful Barwa Addax Team. After investing in English football club QPR, Agag, together with business partner Enrique Bañuelos, began Formula E Holdings, winning the tender to promote the new FIA Formula E Championship.Alejandro Agag first entered the world of electric motorsport in 2014 when he launched the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship before creating Extreme E, which had its first race in April 2021.
Alejandro's leadership of both ABB FIA Formula E and Extreme E has showcased electric mobility and promoted cleaner technologies through the power of sport. Extreme E is also highlighting the devastating effects of climate change by racing in remote locations all suffering at the hands of the environmental crisis.
“Fomrula G is an important initiative,” Agag commented. “To create opportunities for young drivers to enter motorsport via the electric avenue is crucial and was missing until now.
“Having more competitions in countries around the world where there is not as much access to and representation in motorsport is key to success. To create this championship in India is a great idea and certainly fills a gap in a huge market for the automotive industry.”
